What causes dangerous road rage incidents?

We’ve all seen it play out before us, those angry bursts of aggression from motorists after a fellow driver violates a road rule. We may have also been on the receiving end of the same, or worse, been guilty of acts of road rage toward other drivers.

So what is up with that? What causes road rage in drivers?

They could be impaired

Drunk or drugged drivers have less inhibition in engaging in conflicts from behind the wheel. Other drivers’ faux pas trigger their poor decision-making, and these impaired motorists lash out with words, gestures, aggressive driving or even weapons.

They may have mental lapses

There have been far too many tragedies involving suicidal motorists driving head-on into traffic and causing catastrophic injuries that are incompatible with life. Even when a struck driver or passenger survives the impact, their recovery can be grueling and their disabilities permanent.

They’re driving recklessly in haste

Some people mistakenly believe they get a pass to exceed the speed limit because they’re “in a hurry.” But if they blow a stop sign and T-bone a family at speed, they bear liability for the damages they cause.

Did a road rage incident leave you injured?

Accidents can happen anywhere at any time. But some collisions and injuries are 100% avoidable. Drunk driving accidents and acts of road rage are two of the latter type.

If you or a loved one suffered injuries due to another driver’s reckless acts behind the wheel, there is a path to civil justice through the Texas courts.
